  23.     You mentioned in a recent posting that you were not aware of
  24.     Blanca.  Briefly, since I suspect you may get several replies,
  25.     the Blanca I am aware of involves NCSA, LBL (Berkeley) and several
  26.     commercial interests in a high-speed wide-area network utilizing a
  27.     form of ATM.  Blanca is one of 5 such high-speed network testbeds
  28.     sponsored by NREN (National Research and Educational somesuch?);
  29.     some of the others are Casa and Aurora.

  31.     It perhaps involves distributed computing but each testbed has
  32.     some unique aspect for research but all, I believe, are to develop
  33.     and test applications that run on the high-speed network with
  34.     resources distributed over the network.

  36.     LLNL has just recently been connected to Blanca.  There is a
  37.     *lot* more information available on these NREN testbeds.
