I know that the GUS comes with 256K memory expandable to 1 meg so does it use Drams for the upgrade? How well does the GUS emulate the SoundBlaster? And finally how is the outlook for software (GUS specific) support?

The GUS does not emulate the SB Pro. It is a 16-bit card. It uses normal
4256 DRAM chips. The card emulates the SB quite well, in my opinion. Some
games will refuse to work with SBOS (the SB emulator for the GUS), others
will sound horrible, but most will sound quite good. The outlook for
GUS-specific software seems very good, much better than the support outlook
for SBPro or PAS16 support when they were first released. Software is
already out for the Ultrasound, which means that developers were
confident enough to program for it before it even hit the shelves.
