- Let me start by saying I am not a complete moron and I have talked to a few
- very knowledgable(sp?) people about this problem
- I have a 386dx motherboard I just traded my 512k trident video card for
- a 1M video card first I had a MXIC video card until I could get a trident
- it worked fine as did the 512K with my 2400baud modem but when I switched
- to the 1M trident (8900 chip) my computer would not boot it would give
- 2 quick beeps then 8 slower beeps no video thats it
- when I pulled the video card it appeared to boot properly (accessed the drives)
- so I pulled the modem and returned the video and amazingly it worked
- so it seems to be a conflict with IRQ's or something but neither the
- modem or video card have any jumpers to control the IRQ's so if any one
- knows anything about this I would be very very very happy to hear from you
- PS. Don't have any idea on the brand of modem no name anywhere
- email 890109g@dragon.acadiau.ca
- thanks to those who help.
- trev.
