- I don't understand the appeal of the "upgradeable to the P24t/'586"
- motherboards given these points.

- o An ISA motherboard, sans cache and CPU, costs < $100. The
- motherboard cost is dominated by cache memory and CPU cost.
- o The "586" won't run at full speed on the existing motherboards.
- o If the retail price of the 486DX is any indication, it will
- cost about same to purchase the processor upgrade as it
- will to purchase a processor/motherboard set.
