- I recently just bought a Diamond Speedstar 24X via Mail Order (PC
- Connection for $175+5 shipping) and am modestly happy with my purchase.
- The Stealth is an S3 based card, were the 24X uses a Western Digital
- WD9031 chip
- The S3's are pretty optomized for Windows (and not much else at this
- point)

- The Windows drivers included with the 24X were complete, and seemed
- very fast. I take all claims of 15/25 etc with a grain of salt. It
- was 5 times as fast as the card it replaced.. which was a fairly cheap
- Trident 8900b. It was however a fairly decent card in retrospect, and
- I would still be using it if it had been HiColor or 24-bit color.
-
- I would spend the money on a faster motherboard.

- Addition piece of information, I'm searching for what seems to be
- non-existant drivers for the 24X for OS/2 2.0 (GA+SP). If you have the
- desire to dump Windows and use OS/2.. check for driver availablity
- before you buy ANYTHING.
- I personally, love the card. It was simple to install, it worked the
- first time (in DOS and Windows.. its crippled in OS/2 due to no SVGA
- driver) and was very fast in every test. Depending on how good (or
- bad) your currently video card is.. Go for the motherboard, or a nice
- generic TSENG ET-4000 card. ($100 class w/1M)
- Anyway.. I'm more of an OS/2 person than Windows.. and I avoid S3's for
- that very reason.. They have been very ugly about wanting to write
- drivers, so I took my money elsewhere. (Western Digital chips)
