- According to tech note from S3 Inc., "For ISA board designs, the 86C924
- silicon is a direct replacement for the 86C911. There are no significant
- hardware differences in the products... 86C911 has a bug for the hardware
- clipping in the 1280 modes. The CAD drivers from S3 performs the clipping
- in software for the 86c911... A future version of the S3 windows driver
- may make use of the hardware clipping when run on the 86C924 in 1280x960"
-
- In other words, one might consider the 924 to be a direct replacement for
- the 911 (a bug fix)
-
- 86C928 on the other hand, is a brand new chip... up to 4MB VRAM
- supporting all 86C911 resolutions plus:
- 1600x1200x256
- 1280x1024x64k
- 1024x768x32 bit, 24 bit
