- I just bought a Gateway 486-66V myself and have noticed two very fine
- horizontal lines running across my monitor (Mitsubishi Diamond Pro
- 17). They are there continuously, not intermittantly. I had assumed
- the monitor was at fault, since the lines look identical using 640x480
- and 1024x768 modes. Does anyone know if the ATI Graphics Ultra Pro
- drivers cause this problem, and if so, is the problem addressed in the
- new drivers?
-
- As for the Gateway hardware, I've had it running for five days straight
- now with no problems. The Western Digital Caviar hard drive seems very
- quick, as does the computer. In fact, I haven't succeeded in slowing
- the computer down enough to make some games play normally (e.g. The
- Terminator, Wing Commander II). Terminator is too fast to be playable,
- however WC II is playable when the Turbo switch is used to slow it
- down, although gameplay is still considerably faster than on a friend's
- 386 machine.
