- I have solved puzzle 8 in a couple of ways, but I have a question:
-
- One way that I solved puzzle 8 was to put a seesaw above the cage, tie
- the ropes accordingly so that when the balloon rises, it would push up
- on the lower seesaw, which would make the upper seesaw pull up on the
- cage, releasing Pokey the Cat. This way, it would seem that the
- balloon had enough force to push up the seesaw, which eventually
- pulled up the cage. Based on this, the balloon was able to pull up the
- cage. However, when I simply tie a balloon to the cage, the balloon
- does NOT pull up the cage. This seems strange because there appears to be
- no mechanical advantage in the seesaws. Am I correct in this observation,
- or am I missing something funny here?
