  27. Since Quicken runs so much faster under plain DOS on the same machine
  28. (yours) what do you think? (;-))
  29. Due to the antiquated hardware design of the PC the CPU has to put the
  30. image onto the Windows screen pixel by pixel and all that via the slow
  31. AT-bus. 640x480x256 - that's a lot of info to be put into the VRAM on
  32. your card (How many MB does that amount to, by the way? I could never
  33. get that right). And that takes TIME.

  35. For a quick fix, try switching to the plain vanilla VGA-driver included
  36. with Windows. That'll only give you 16 colours, but at the same time it
  37. reduces the amount of info on the screen by a factor of 16. Consequently
  38. things like scrolling are a lot speedier.
