- I *know* MEM does garbage collection. How else could it tell you how
- much free memory you have? Are you sure that when you did your
- experiment with the long variable 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa', that you didn't
- forget about last argument, last stack, last command line, etc. If you
- didn't turn these off completely, you probably changed that least the
- last command function. Remember that last command save the last *4*
- command lines that you entered. I believe that if you account for all
- these hiding places for memory, that you will find that MEM does garbage
- collection.
