- After all the lively discussions about Chaos being
- either the best game ever or the ultimate pits, I
- decided to look for myself. So I picked up a copy
- from atari.archive.umich.edu, formatted the
- ridiculously large disk (:-), unmsa'd the whole thing
- and sure enough: I now have an auto file containing
- a loader and chaos.prg. BUT...: When I try to run
- the program, it enters a loop, rebooting & telling me
- time and again that this boot sector is virus-free.
- Now that is great news, of course, but I would like
- to see something more happening after a while.
- BTW this same thing happened when I tried to run
- chaos.prg without the loader, after booting with
- another disk.
- It even happens with both files outside the AUTO
- folder, so it is not simply a matter of crash and
- reboot.
-
- Does anybody have any bright ideas about where the
- cause of my misery lies?
- - is this virus check part of the loader? Is it
- included in the msa disk image, or has some other
- program (fcopyiii, for instance) put it on there?
- - why would even running chaos.prg directly result
- in this virus check routine?
-
- thanks,
