  12.  Attening the Home Computer Show in Melbourne last weekend, it was surprising
  13. to see Atari having one of the largest and most prominent stands. On display
  14. were two falcons, and a 1040 St with midi setup (singer, lights, tone modules
  15. and electric guitar). One falcon ran a continuous slide show, whilst the other
  16. was used for DSP sound demonstration. 
  17.  Atari had sessions where the performed a full song (Ive still got the blues
  18. for you) with the singer, guitar, tone modules and lights. After getting a
  19. crowd gathered, they then spoke briefly about the St and its midi capabilities
  20. and then went on to demonstrate the sound digitising capabilities of the 
  21. Falcon. This consisted of a member of the crowd singing into a microphone
  22. the song then being played back with various effects such as delays etc. The
  23. Atari guy then spoke through the microphone demonstrating real time sound
  24. effects that can be achieved upon any input sound. It would have been 
  25. nicer to see this done with music rather than voice.

  27.  I was told the Falcon will be available here in Australia at the end
  28. of January, for between (AUS$) $1000 and $1500 (I HOPE this upper end
  29. price is not for the 1 meg, no HD machine). I also asked someone from
  30. Dick Smith (the main retail outlet of atari in Australia) and was told
  31. the price would be around $1000. At the show, Atari was selling 1040 STE's
  32. for $499! $400 less than their normal price.
