- With my recent purchase of a Mac (PowerBook 100), and my own lack of
- drives for my 8-bits, I was wondering about the feasibility of adding
- a localtalk port to the 8bits. Before anyone says this is impossible,
- keep this in mind. A localtalk is only a serial port running at 230 Kbaud
- which should be easy enough to construct through the parallel port. Also,
- with a networking card, Apple IIs can be on an appletalk network, able to
- access file servers and printers.
-
- So the first part of the project would be to find out all you can on
- Appletalk. This could be the biggest stumbling block since I've heard that
- the protool is a bitch. After this is found out, it should be fairly easy
- to construct the serial port, and include the ROM code to boot off of a
- server.
-
- I have nowhere near the expertise to even begin a project of this magnitude,
- but I was figuring those of you out there might. (I feel like Steve Jobs!!)
-
- Any comments? Suggestions?
