- [Problems with 8MB in GS]
-
- First: Do you have a card that does DMA? Can it handle 8MB?
-
- : into GS's before, but I can't! The memory is the 1 Meg x 2 style which
- : means that only 2 chips are on the SIMM boards, unlike the existing
- : ones that are 1 x 8's. TYpically, I wouldn't expect this to be a problem,
- : but who knows?
-
- You really should expect that to be a problem. It caused a shitload of problems
- on old PC boards, simply because those chips need a refresh that is a little
- bit different, and the old chip sets didn't provide for that. Sounds familiar?
- You an old Z80 person? ;-)
-
- So, get *9 (or *8, if you must) SIMMs from a friend and try them. Could be the
- problem goes away. (*2, really ... most SIMMs have 3 chips, not two. This is
- really strange, a Mac person not putting SIMMs in that can also be used on PCs.
- Oh well :).
