- The device numbering is independent of device type. The boot drive is
- always unit number 1. There is a diagram in the Firmware reference
- manual that describes the method by which the ID numbers are assigned
- to other devices.
- You potentially have six drives on the IIgs's SmartPort: two Apple 3.5
- Drives, two UniDisk 3.5 drives, a RAM disk (RAM5) and a ROM disk
- (ROM5). In this case, they would be numbered 1 through 6 (but I'm not
- sure which order).

- Although the 5.25" drives are physically connected to the SmartPort,
- they are NOT accessed through the SmartPort firmware. ProDOS has an
- internal driver that is used for all 5.25" drives. From the
- computer's point of view, they are connected to slot 6.
