  17. I too have a similar configuration: Rodime 60 MB drive, and SyQuest 44
  18. MB using an Apple DMA SCSI card.

  20. Switching cartrdiges is somewhat slow, as the computer seems to poll
  21. the drive four times before it will appear, but I certainly don't have
  22. to remove the cartridge and reinsert it.

  24. I can boot GS/OS with no cartridge in the SyQuest, and it works fine
  25. if I then insert a cartridge (while in Finder, for example).

  27. Going into ProDOS-8 with no cartridge in the SyQuest is a problem -
  28. the computer doesn't hang, but I cannot subsequently access the
  29. SyQuest until the system is rebooted (or a program reinitializes the
  30. SCSI bus, e.g. Chinook SCSI Utilities, and I quit from and re-enter
  31. ProDOS-8).

  34. The SyQuest is connected to the computer, and the Rodime to the
  35. SyQuest.  The Rodime is internally terminated.

  38. It sounds like you have termination problems of some kind - I've never
  39. come across either of the problems you mentioned (having to re-insert
  40. a cartridge to have it recognised, and ProDOS-8 hanging if the SyQuest
  41. has no cartridge).

  43. It may be something to do with the supply of power to the terminators.
