  16. It is not possible to use a DeskWriter from ProDOS8 due to the fact that 
  17. it is a QuickDraw printer and has no internal fonts.  Ordinarily, programs 
  18. such as ProTERM will just dump the text out the printer port as ASCII, and 
  19. it is up to the printer the interpret the information and print it.  The 
  20. DeskWriter works on the Mac (and the IIGS with Harmonie) by simply 
  21. printing bitmaps of the current document (alright, it's a bit more complex 
  22. than that, but you get the idea).  In ProDOS 8, you're not sending your 
  23. text out as graphics, but rather as straight ASCII.  And the DeskWriter, 
  24. with no built-in fonts, has no way to output this information.

  26. The same problem applies to the StyleWriter, and any other printer without 
  27. internal fonts.
