- Hiya all...
-
- My uselessly trivial comments regarding SAS/C Version 6.00...
-
- First let me note that I do intend getting hooked up to EMITS, and
- posting problems there, but I KEEP LEAVING THE STUPID DETAILS AT HOME!
-
- A few of bugs (more like minor irritations) I have found are perhaps
- worth mentioning. I know these wont make it into 6.01, as they're
- pretty trivial, but seeing as everyone was in the "Have you seen the
- latest SAS/C bug" mode, I thought I'd mention them...
-
- 1) This is the really really SUPER DOOPER trivial one. When you open
- se (that editor of all editors... %^), it seems if you resize the
- window before all it's rendering has been done se it doesn't realise
- the fact and you end up with that horizontal bar that seperates the
- edit area from the area down the bottom (where you input stuff like
- what to search for etc) in a really wierd place. I can't always get
- it to do this for me, but it happens with reasonable regularity.
-
- 2) Now the serious BUG TO END ALL BUGS - when the Global Optimiser is
- running, any warnings it puts up (like "removing dead assignment" or
- something) don't get sent to the message browser. This is not a real
- buggy bug in the actual "bug" sense of the word, merely an enhancement
- request I suppose.
-
- 3) This is just an irritation - I am only running on a lowly 68000, and
- for some reason se gets REALLY SLOOOOOOW when you are adding or
- deleting characters in a line of which part is selected as a block
- - say the last 5 characters of the line have been selected as a block
- and you are deleting characters at the start, it happens way way way
- slow. Version 5.1 seemed much faster to me. Why is it so? I know
- I could just get rid of the block or whatever, but it's a little
- irritating.
-
- Well, now that I've wasted everyones time at SAS I'll just finished by
- saying that I really love leaving the CLI way way way behind when it
- comes to compiling. Since I got version 6.00 I haven't touched the
- CLI for compiling (although I came close to this with version 5.1).
- It is a great package (though you should get a graphic artist to design
- your default icons - want me to send you some good ones based very closely
- on yours but tidied up in a huge way?), many very useful enhancments
- (love GST's and hyperGST!). Doug Walker and James Cooper are up there
- with Dave Haynie (well, close) in my hero-worship list (I know they
- aren't by ANY means the only ones working on the Amiga version of SAS/C,
- I've seen the credits in the manual, but they hang around here and help
- us useless dudes all the time like Dave does... or used to...)
-
- End of rave,
-
- Tim.
