- Come on Sam, think about it for a bit, you said things started to
- go sour after a lighting storm. You've sent back the modem twice and you
- still get static, did it ever occur that the modem may not be the problem.
- It may not even be your system at fault, but if I were you I would start
- looking at other parts of my system, it may simply be a CIA that went, in
- which case your system my still appear to work fully but may in fact have
- faulty chips which can cause more serious damage if not investigated soon.
- Of course you seem to be hung up on blaming the supplier of one
- component in a system that has dozens. You can do one of two things here,
- look into other parts of you system including the lines(telephone) to make
- sure you haven't got any other fried parts or send back the modem for a
- third time only to find you still have the static problem and maybe a few
- other problems caused by not finding the real problem soon enough.
- Two other thing you can do also is, 1- to buy a surge protector to
- prevent something like this from happening again, and don't be cheap here,
- a few extra dollars now can save you a lot later.
- The second thing is, I wouldn't be posting things like this if I
- were you. You just said the modem the got fried in an electrical storm and
- you sent it back for a replacement. When was the last time you heard that a
- warranty covers damage caused by neglect on the part of the purchaser, the
- neglect of not properly protecting electrical equipment. I don't think
- Supra is half as braindead as you are, for admitting that the modem didn't
- go bad due to bad workmenship but to something that they no control over.
- Did it occur to you that this is a public forum to which Supra is
- privy to also and they may not take kindly to being blamed for something
- they have no control over, such as a lighting storm.
