- I finally got my A4000.
-
- Question:
- Why are the monitor mode scan rates different for the A4000 than for the A3000?
- For example:
-
- A3000 DblNTSC - 59Hz, 29.2 kHz
- A4000 DblNTSC - 58Hz, 27.66 kHz
-
- A3000 SUPER72 - 72Hz, 24.62 kHz
- A4000 SUPER72 - 71Hz, 23.21 kHz
-
- I had to buy the 4000 and monitor at the same time. I had to have a multisync
- that supprted 1024x800 for my GDA-1 card and I figured that DblNTSC would be
- an acceptible compromise so I got a Mitsubishi that would scan down to 29
- kHz. I tried it with the A3000 (with the deinterlacer) and it could sync very
- nicely. Unfortunately, the A4000's lower rate won't work. So I appear to be
- stuck in MULTISCAN mode with a 640x400 screen with no overscan that fills up
- 1/3 of the real estate of my monitor. Looks like PIP without the outside
- picture (Hey, I'm trying to look on the bright side and I'm having trouble at
- this point, ok?)
-
- What's going on? I don't have the articles anymore, but I know good and well
- that I remember several talking about using Super72 at 24.62 kHz on the
- A4000. Before I get really peeved, I thought maybe there's something wrong
- with this particular A4000 to cause it to generate the lower scan rates.
- Can AGA not support these scan rates???
-
