- This is the point where I have to apologize for my, er- this company. :-)
- The connector is "friendly net", aka the stupid connector found on
- Mac Quadras. Its usefulness is nil as far as I'm concerned. You still
- have to buy a media attachment unit to get to thinnet, twisted pair, etc.

- Its some kind of "high end" vision. You'd have to ask the marketing guys
- who dream this stuff up why they wanted it. I'm just an engineer. I do
- what I'm told (not without a lot of arguing though :-).
-
- These PC's come with client shells for Novell, Banyan Vines, and Lan Man,
- so I'd say that the target is for higher end systems and not for the
- casual user to hook up 2 pc's. On the other hand, they just started
- shipping Windows for Workgroups with these pc's which implies that its
- for the casual hook up of 2 computers. Its still an incomplete
- solution since there is no media attachment units in the box.
-
- btw, I do low end desktops which thankfully dont require this
- built in ethernet. If a user buys my computer and wants networking,
- he's supposed to buy a NE2000 or SMC card and throw it in a slot.
-
- Of course these are my opinions. I dont speak for my company.
