- I've seen this question posted in various forms but have not seen a
- comprehensive answer -
-
- A client of mine has bought an A-4000 and a 1960. Of course, the 4000 is
- beautiful, wonderful, and all that. But we're having the usual problems of
- some resolutions being displayed too far to the right on the screen. Even
- with the knob adjusted all the way, several modes are INCHES from the left
- side. 800x600, 640x400 DBLNTSC and a few others are particularly bad. In
- fact about the only one that works well (aside from the 15 Khz modes) is
- 1280x400 Euro-36 mode, which is fine for Workbench (until you try to run
- Pagestream - the pixels are nowhere near square), but this machine was
- bought largely to improve screen refresh times in programs like Imagine,
- and if I still have to use such software in a 15 Khz mode, my client has
- spent $600 on a 1960 for no real reason.
-
- It's funny but I don't remember this happening very much on the 4000s I
- played with at WOC.
-
- If there's some internal adjustment we can make to move the whole thing
- over, there's plenty of rightward adjustment that can be made from the front
- panel for the modes that do appear centered. But ideally I'd like to be
- able to have all scan modes appear centered... (seeing as how the overscan
- prefs can be set for each scan rate individually (nice!))
-
- And in other news, I was saddened to hear that Mitsubishi has replaced their
- Diamondscan (the 1381A?? Not sure) with a model that does not have a
- composite input. I really need a multiscanning monitor that has a composite
- input. Does anyone happen to know where I might still find an "old"
- Diamondscan for sale? (new, preferably)
-
- (Email replies requested for the second question at least)
