  26. This is what bothers me about people expounding upon products.  The
  27. above statement tells us that Alladin 4D "creates truely stunning
  28. images/animations".   This is just not the case.  It is people who
  29. create.  Aladdin 4D is just a tool.

  31. I have used just about *every* 3D tool for the Amiga on the market and
  32. have had a chance to work with Aladdin 4D (a friends purchased copy).

  34. While it does seem very powerful, that power comes at a substantial cost
  35. in ease of use.  This program is not very intuitive nor does it sport a
  36. 2.0 interface.  It is decidely 1.3 in it's flat buttons and requestors.
  37. In alot of cases it seems that buttons and such were strewn haphazardly
  38. around the requestors.

  40. My test for any software package is to see if I can create and
  41. image/animation without even looking at the documentation once.  This
  42. was NOT possible with Aladdin 4D.  With Lightwave 3D (for example) it
  43. was very easy to create images/animations without ever opening a manual.

  45. I would have to say that Aladdin stacks up with Animation Journeyman as
  46. far as difficulty of use.  Imagine is easier to figure out without a
  47. manual than either of these two programs.  Lightwave 3D was the easiest
  48. to figure out.  The only time I hit the Lightwave manual is to check on
  49. some settings or to review information on complex operations.

  51. This should also be true of Aladdin but alas, it is not.

  53. While Aladdin seems to sport some very cutting edge features that I
  54. yearn for, I find that its current interface leaves much to be desired.
  55. I would seriously have considered a purchase of it for its features even
  56. though I own a Toaster/Lightwave 3D as well as Imagine but I found its
  57. ease of use and productivity value lacking.

  59. I will wait for Lightwave Pro to released instead.  Hopefully Allen will
  60. be including gas volumes and free form deformations in the next version
  61. of Lightwave.
