- Why NOT HamLab? I have been using HamLab EXTENSIVELY for the
- last four weeks. This is a FANTASTIC program! It manages to convert and
- manipulate almost any image I can throw at it and does so in 24 bits!
- It even reads the ne Ham8 pics! GET HamLabPlus (the demo)! Read the
- docs (a lot of features are buried in there). The demo will do almost
- everything the registered package does except handle images larger than
- 512x512. This packages is worth (IMHO) well over $100 and it can be had
- for only $20! I frequently see requests for conversion software on this
- group... Why is HamLabPlus such a big secret? The program handles (this
- is from memory):
- IFFs (1-24 bit, including Ham8 Ham-E DCTV Ham6 Dynamic Ham, PCHG)
- GIFs (multiple depths including Gif87 & Gif89a)
- TIFF (B&W and Color)
- JPEG (JFIF)
- Targa
- Sun
- PBM
- FBM
- BMP (Windows bitmap)
- MTV (from Rayshade et al)
- and others (I don't have the manual with me)
- It also converts to and exports a number of these formats. It also allows
- about 8 types of dithering, gamma correction, brightness and contrast
- modifications, and color correction. It can perform all functions in 24
- bits internally with a 1-24 bit output mode. It has a very nice AREXX
- capability that allows you to convert an entire library at once and can
- be run from the CLI. I am currently working on AREXX macros to allow
- HamLabPlus to work easily with OpalVision !
-
- I know this is not new information, but I have seen so many "how
- can I convert XXX to XXX" questions that I had to respond! TRY HAMLABPLUS,
- you WILL like it. Hey, the demo is FREE! If there is a FAQ for this
- group, HamLabPlus should be mentioned in it (again, IMHO).

- (I am not associated with HamLabPlus or its author except that I am a
- satisfied user.)
-
- P.S. Did I mention that HamLabPlus uses import/export modules and can
- be easily expanded to handle a new format by simply adding such a module?)
