  13. My five-day-old A4000 is somewhat unconscious now: It will not boot.
  14. Here is a summary of what happened.

  16. I left my A4000 running overnight because I was rendering an animation
  17. in Imagine. After about 20 hours of non-stop working, when I turned out
  18. the monitor, the A4000 was still working fine. I did a couple of things
  19. in DPaint and then I loaded ADPro. I wanted to load a 24-Bit picture but
  20. the memory was fragmented so it did not load. No problem. Hit the three
  21. keys to reset (There was no harddisk activity when I did this!)
  22. Wait......The harddisk led blinks.......nothing! Weird. Turn the
  23. computer off.Wait twenty secs. Turn it back on. The power led flashes a
  24. couple of times in a guruing fashion....the screen is black.,...the
  25. harddidk led blinks......nothing. What the hell? Reboot......the same
  26. thing. After seeing this, I decided to let the Amiga cool for a while.
  27. After two hours, I turned it on and it booted. But I had to go to class
  28. so I didn't do anything. I was happy that it was working again and
  29. turned it off. When I came back from class I turned it
  30. on.........nothing!!! I rebooted.....this time the power led flashed a
  31. couple of times...and a green screen came up (one of the diagnostic
  32. codes).....reboot.....a yellow-green screen......reboot.....black
  33. screen...........

  35. What is happening?  Why did my A4000 start doing this just because I
  36. resetted it? I suspect that the harddisk is having a problem with spinup
  37. but the color-diagnostic screens may mean something else. Does anybody
  38. know what those colors correspond to? By the way: No, I cannot boot with
  39. a floppy Workbench because the boot sequence gets stuck at the first
  40. second of its activity....

  43. A4000 back!
