- You might not like the following advice, but it works for me. I played
- around with a lot of colors, and I eventually discovered that, while the
- color setup matters, you can practically eliminate flicker by losing the
- borders and title bar -- in other words, text generates a lot less
- flicker than the graphics around the text.
-
- I do just about everything with borderless windows. If you are a GUI
- aficionado, you can't live this way, but on a floppy system, the opening
- of windows and icon generation take too long for me anyway. I'm happy,
- though, as I say, not many people would care to do this.
-
- BTW -- the less contrast between the colors, the better. I use a dark
- grey background, light (not real light) grey text, blue and yellow-orange.
-
- Another thing which seems to lessen flicker is to wear polarized
- sunglasses (seriously). I don't do this, but I've tired it, and it
- works.
-
- To make the most of interlace, I made myself a couple 13 point fonts
- (Pearl and Courier) which give me 30 lines of text onscreen, but aren't
- so small as to be unreadable. Oh, and the non-serifed fonts (like
- Pearl) seem to be less flickery than serifed ones.
-
- Good Luck,
