- I recently purchased a new 14.4K v32.bis FAX BocaModem for my Amiga 500
- (4Mb fast & 1Mb chip RAM, WB2.04 ROM). I am having trouble getting it to
- make a proper data connect to any BBS; at any speed. My Supra 2400 modem
- works fine on the exact same phone line and term program (sans the
- different required settings for the 14.4K modem - RTS/CTS, port speed etc).
- A friend of mine had no problems at all connecting to a BBS with the same
- BocaModem hooked up to his MS Dos machine.
-
- What happens is that whenever I dial out (using Term or Jr-comm), the modem
- dials the number fine but immediately after starts sending out a series of
- very long and annoying beeps. Normally, it should simply be waiting quietly
- for the answering modem to send a carrier. I should also mention, that these
- beeps it sends out are not at all like a normal 14.4 connect sound but just
- a very long beep, followed by a pause, and then it repeats itself. It
- sounds like some sort of guard tone but I made sure the UK guard tone (S23)
- was disabled and the beeps don't sound like a FAX guard tone - I checked to
- make sure the modem was not being put into FAX mode for some reason.
-
- I would like to hear from any other Amiga users who use the 14.4K FAX
- BocaModem - have you had to use any special init settings. What settings
- do you use both in the term program and init string (saved settings).
- Believe me, I have played around with all the various settings and "S"
- registers including trying to connect to a friends 14.4K SupraModem using
- all forms of configurations but I had no luck whatsoever.
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated.
