-
- I'm going to go insane. Look, I USED SOMEONE ELSE'S CODE IN MY PROGRAM,
- and I am not able to debug this other person's code right now.
- All you programmers out there, take note: Avoid using other people's
- code in your programs if at all possible. It has caused me nothing
- but headaches as far back as MegaBall 1.0 when I first started using
- the NoiseTracker replay that didn't work on some systems (due to
- DMA waits, wouldn't you know!! :)

-
- Ick!! A library? What for?? I would never be able to get EdSynth to
- work from a library, nor auto-fade, nor master volume, nor the
- spectrum analyzer, nor the SWait command, nor the VU meters,
- *deep breath*, nor the autostop, nor the MIDI ridirect, etc., etc., etc.,
- unless the author of the library explicitly put special functions
- and hooks into the code for all of them.
-
- I would much rather get a sourcecode for the replay from the author of
- the mod editor (ie PT, MED, ie Lars, Teijo) so that I can add all of
- these things myself (as I have). The only trouble is, the code I got
- has bugs, and don't even think of telling me I can't complain to the
- authors about those bugs.
-
- >(BTW, we are working on such a library right now, which supports all known
- >module types :-).
-
- If you are interested in lots of obscure mod formats, but don't need a
- whole lot in the way of fancy displays or an impressive ARexx command set,
- go use MultiPlayer or DeliTracker. If you only use the most well-known
- trackers (ProTracker, MED) but you want lots of cool options, external
- control, and fun-to-watch kind of things, use EdPlayer.
-
- It's the old tradeoff: The more formats, the less features. The more
- features, the less formats. Take your pick.
-
- Followups-to comp.amiga.modplayers.advocacy :)
