- I don't know how others generally feel about Gold Disk but I'm not too
- excited at the moment. If you haven't heard ProDraw crashes on the
- A4000. Are there any developer types out there that have tried to run
- it on a non-4000 machine running 3.0? Just wondering what happened.
-
- Not me!
-
- Me: And that will have to be purchased?
-
- GD: Oh, I really don't know.
-
- They usually have bugfixes released (and this sound like one) free
- after every major release as PPage 3.0 and PDraw 3.0 were. But
- they might be adding support for AGA chips and because of that it
- may cost you.
-
- Me: Do you have some sort of time interval?
-
- GD: ProPage, by the end of the year.
-
- Me: No, ProDraw.
-
- GD: Oh, ProDraw, I haven't heard anything about that.
-
-
- At this point I basically gave up - said thanks, and hung up. The guy
- on the phone didn't seem very willing to offer information. He didn't
- sound very imformed either. I was hoping to hear something like "Oh, we've
- got that fixed and will be sending fixes out to those who need them"
- or something similar. Next VERSION??? I'm not looking for any more
- features or anything, just something that works! BTW, it sounds like
- ProPage broke too...
-
- I think they have something wrong with their programmers. They seem to
- do lot of code which doesn't work in new OS (or even new patches).
-
- It broke in 1MB chip machines. I broke after a new 1.3 patch etc...
-
- For example that 1MB chip thing shouldn't affect programs if they
- are well written.
-
- Well, instead of complaining to the guy on the phone, who probably really
- couldn't do anything anyway, I'm going to write a letter to Gold Disk.
- I don't expect to get anything out of it but I want to let someone know
- how some of the users feel (at least me anyway). If anyone has any comments
- they would like to add I would be glad to include them in my letter. I may
- include this post, I guess it depends if I get any responses or not...
-
- Write a nice (don't complain too much) letter telling your problems and
- they propably will listen to you. Complaining too much isn't likely to
- help you at all.
-
- I have got decent support from them after few letters I wrote to them.
-
- BTW, I'm not out to get Gold Disk or anything. I'm just a bit upset at
- basically wasting my money...
-
- I tested PPage3.0 a while ago and decided not to upgrade because there
- seemed to be a bug with non-interlanced PAL resolution with
- fonts missing line or two from the top. It made text look very bad.
-
- Is this bug fixed yet? Anybody know?
-
- Thanks!
-
-
- Rich...
