- In answers to questions:
-
- Why can PageStream print certain CompuGraphic fonts to PostScript
- printers?
-
- The CompuGraphic routines Soft-logik licensed from AGFA CompuGraphic
- return bitmaps to PageStream from the outline font files. Bitmaps
- at high resolution are fine for dot-matrix printing or the screen.
- PostScript printers, on the other hand, require Adobe format font
- information to print. So, you need an Adobe type I version of the
- font for PageStream to download to your PostScript printer. Soft-
- Logik provides these PostScript for the fonts it supplies with
- PageStream. There is a possibility that CompuGraphic will supply
- routines that return font outlines rather than bitmaps and then
- perhaps PageStream will not need a separate Adobe font.
-
- Another question deals with display of EPSF files on screen.
-
- Currently PageStream does not include a full PostScript language
- interpreter. This means that it cannot interpret an arbitrary
- EPSF file on screen or print it to a dot matrix printer. PageStream
- displays such files as a box on screen. They will print to a
- PostScript printer and can be displayed with a PostScript interpreter
- such as POST. Some subsets of PostScript such as those EPSF files
- produced by Adobe Illustrator CAN be interpreted by PageStream,
- displayed on screen and printed to all printers. I don't have an
- answer as to when PageStream will add a full PostScript language
- interpreter.
