- Speaking from a site user who has JIPS access, there is one slight problem
- here. You can only mount remote filesystems if you are the root user
- on the machine that is doing the mounting, and if the remote site has
- added you to their mounting tables so that you can mount their filesystem.
- Now, it's ok if you *are* root, but I doubt if I'd be given even access to use
- mount, as it is too much of a security risk :-(
-
- There are only two alternatives :
- 1) Hack root
- 2) Find a system with NFS on it, but which is a personal computer (e.g.
- a PC clone running SUN PC-NFS) and hack it so you can mount the remote
- filesystem.
-
- Of course, those lucky people with access to root on an R260 or R140
- (e.g. cabr07@vaxa.strath.ac.uk) will no doubt be quite happy if they could
- mount a Replay demo CD over NFS :-)
