- Apart from those mentioned by Erick E. in his followup, I think the
- article you mention also said something about using the telnetd to
- access PC/DOS hosted CD-ROM databases. I kept a copy of that article
- (see excerpt below) -- if you'd like the full article (which doesn't
- really add anything more worth knowing), email me and I'll send it.

- I don't have an answer for Bob about using DOS emulators
- but there is another option other than Logicraft or Virtual Microsystems. I
- have just gone through a review of the options for accessing DOS based CD-
- roms fromnon-DOS based machines and come up with a DOS TELNET server which
- works VERY WELL. It is called Everywhere Access from Superior Network
- Software in Warsaw, Ontario, Canada.
-
- This package will run on a DOS machine and allow access to it via TELNET
- standard connections from any VT100 compatible device. It imposes a
- minimal hit on the DOS machine and is very stable. It is much more useful
- than other DOS telnet servers I have seen such as the Waterloo TELNETD
- package and the B&W TCP/IP for DOS v. 3 telnet server. It is possible to
- multi-task it under DESQVIEW or Windows (if you have the correct tcp/ip
- stack support) although I have not yet had a chance to try that out. An OS
- /2 version is under development. Cost is about $150 Canadian per copy.
- For anyone who is interested in accessing DOS applications in a tcp/ip
- environment it is well worth a look. Contact inf@snsi.com or
- snsi!info@uunet.ca for more information.
