- DTC has been in business for a long time - possibly as long as adaptec.
- I have some DTC ST-506 to SCSI adapters that are the same vintage as the
- Adaptec ACB-4000. They've been making PC type controllers for just as
- long as Adaptec.
-
- While I really like Adaptec and their products, the DTC3280 might be
- a better deal for you. It includes drivers for CD-ROM and removeable
- disk drives bundled with the controller. I don't think that's true of
- the 1522. The latest DTC3280 also supports ASPI, so any ASPI-compliant
- software should work with it (and the 1522). ROM upgrades are available
- for earlier DTC3280's so they can support ASPI too.
-
- I can't comment on the performance difference. My Adaptec 1542 is an
- outstanding product, and my DTC3280 is certainly adequate. But I
- don't have a 1522 to compare with.
