- I have a 486 25Mhz system with a Seagate 80Meg hard drive model number
- ST-296N. The BAD PART is that I am using a Seagate ST02 hard drive card.
- This card supports up to two(2) disk drives, but it is only a 8-bit card!!!
-
- Don't ask me WHY the hard card is only 8-bit in a 486 system, it just happened
- that way.
-
- I am thinking of getting a 16-bit card, but haven't decided on which one yet.
- The two cards I am considering are the Adaptec 1522, or the DTC 3280. These
- cards are both below $149 and both support floppy drives. I have heard of
- Adaptec(this newsgroup talks about the 1542B all the time) but DTC??????
- Who are they??? Are they a reliable company???
-
- I would like to know if anyone out there has had any experience with either
- of these two cards. Which one is faster, more easier to set up, has
- least problems with other software(or hardware), and stuff like that.
-
- My drive is formated now with a 2:1 interleave. I know that I will have to
- reformat it to 1:1 with the new 16-bit card.
-
- Any help would be very....helpful.
-
- That is all.
