- There is no way to know what the fastest DMA setting can be for an ISA
- bus based machine. You have to try out the different DMA settings to
- find out what the machine will reliably support.
- Try moving the jumper to 5.7 and then 6.7 and so on and so forth until
- the machine either locaks up or starts acting flaky. You best have a
- backup of the data on the hard disk before starting this preocedure.
- You can also try using the ROM BIOS test routine located at dc00:9. It
- will not be 100%, but it will show catastrophic problems with various
- DMA speeds.
- This is not a limitation of the 154x adapter, it is a limitation of the
- ISA bus, where there is no real control logic for bus masters.
