  11. Having finally gotten an external cable for the AHA-1740 (hard to
  12. believe that NOPLACE in the 7th largest city in the country had these
  13. things), I am trying to get my 44MB Bernoulli Portable to mount
  14. through the Adaptec controller instead of through the parallel port
  15. adapter I've been using.  Things just don't seem to want to play
  16. together, and I've tried several things.

  18. Attempt #1 - AHA-1740 as ID#0, Maxtor Panther as ID#1, Bernoulli as
  19. ID#2; Controller in Standard Mode and using ASPI4DOS 3.0.  The system
  20. does NOT recognize that there is a second drive on the controller, and
  21. ASPIDISK does not load.  The Iomega RCD utilites complain about not
  22. finding an RCD Adapter and do not load.  However, I remember seeing
  23. someone say someplace that there is a problem with the 3.0 version of
  24. ASPI4DOS, and that he dropped back to a 2.X version and it worked.
  25. Not having a 2.X version handy to drop back to, I tried --

  27. Attempt #2 - Everything hardware-wise as above; Controller in Enhanced
  28. Mode and using ASPIEDOS 1.0.  The system recognizes and identifies
  29. both the Maxtor Panther and the Bernoulli, and ASPIDISK loads.
  30. However, the Iomega RCD utilites still complain about not finding an
  31. RCD Adapter and the RCD driver doesn't load, so other than at boot
  32. when it's looking for devices, the system does not recognize the
  33. Bernoulli.

  35. So, I'm back to running the Bernoulli off the parallel port adapter (I
  36. left the Adaptec in Enhanced Mode) so that I can access the Bernoulli.
  37. Anyone have any experience and/or advice on getting this to work
  38. together correctly?

  40. I also plan on adding a tape (probably Wangtek 5525ES) and a CD in the
  41. near future (NEC, perhaps -- or the Pioneer Minichanger?).  What
  42. convolutions is it going to take to get all that to work correctly?
