- I have received yesterday "my" HP LaserJet 4M.
-
- These are the first timings i have been able to do, only with PostScript.
- The printer is connected to a Sun at 19.2 KBauds, through TranScript.
-
- The 4M is a default one, with 6 MB ram.
-
- LW IIg (8 MB) 3Si (10 MB) 4M (300dpi) 4M (600dpi)

-
- So, is it better than IIISi or Apple IIg ?
-
- yes and no, it is a good machine, not a VERY superior one, in terms of
- speed, but do not forget you have 600dpi and PostScript level II and
- multiple (3) I/O simultaneously and multiple languages (LaserJet, PS,
- HPGL) simultaneously at the same price than LW IIg.
-
- Regret: apparently, there is no way to change the resolution by program
- (like in QMS PS1700, with setresolution command).
-
- If you want me to print YOUR benchmarks, email me!
-
- If you don't agree, tell me your configuration switches, perhaps some choices are bad.
- I have not yet fully investigated in the documentation.
-
- PS: usual disclaimer: i have no connection with HP and i speak for myself.
