- Yup - rename() is/was broken from day 1, at least in our experience.

- We hope it will get fixed in 5.1, currently in beta. I suspect it was
- one of those "minor" problems that got passed over, dropped on the floor,
- whatever. We ended up working around it by using copies and deletes.
