  26. This is a problem that's endemic to both LATSYM and PRTSYM symbionts.  [The
  27. actual problem is in SMBSRVSHR.EXE, the common code between both
  28. symbionts.]

  30. SMBSRVSHR.EXE was taught years ago to scan for control sequences so that it
  31. might be able to anticipate needed paper movements and to track pages
  32. properly for chargeback accounting.  This was great in the days of pure DEC
  33. shops, but in this multicultural world it's just plain inadequate.

  35. Basically, you're stuck with the /PASSALL route.  We had to go that way
  36. with our PATHWORKS for VMS print serving features to guarantee that
  37. PC-originated printer jobs to all sorts of non-ANSI printers got done
  38. right.  There's NO other way to tell the symbiont to stop processing
  39. control sequences inside a job.
