- Hi,
-
- I tried to repeat Alan's problem on my VLC (VMS 5.5) but had no success.
- But that's not my point.
-
- I've been receiving info-vax on my MV3100 (VMS 5.4-2) for 20 days, and
- yesterday I decided to organize the stuff into folders in a subdirectory
- mail file. I selected some mails which were related to DCL, and I moved
- them all to a new folder named "DCL":
-
- MAIL> mov/all dcl
- Folder DCL does not exist.
- Do you want to create it (Y/N, default is N)? y
- %MAIL-I-NEWFOLDER, folder DCL created
-
- I continued working for a while, and then I decided to take a look at
- the folders:
-
- MAIL> dir/fold
- Listing of folders in DKA100:[USER.MOLNAR.ORT-VAX]MAIL.MAI;2
- Press CTRL/C to cancel listing
- ALPHA ALTYPAHD
- DECNET DECWIN
- EDIT EMUL
- MAILER MISC
- PORTS PRINT
- SYSMGR SYSSER
- VAX VAXC
- VMS VUPS
- dcl
-
- As it strikes to the eye at once, "dcl" is in lowercase and not in
- alphabetical order. I tried to take a look at the folder then:
-
- MAIL> sel dcl
- %MAIL-E-NOTEXIST, folder DCL does not exist
-
- Fortunately, there were copies of the mails in someone else's folders,
- so I brought them into my mail file, and saved them in another folder.
- I tried to create a DCL folder again and it worked o.k. (I changed its
- name so you won't think about duplicate names or anything alike).
- This is not an important problem; in fact, it doesn't even annoy me
- to much, but anyway, I find it interesting. Do you have any idea
- of how to fix the problem, and why it happened? Thanks for your attention.
