- Yup 8-). First, consider that a DEC LP26 is in fact a version of a B600
- printer. However, Dataproducts offers several zillion flavors and options
- on their printers. The one that is probably causing your problem is the
- termination resistor values in the connector on the B600. I'd suggest com-
- paring them with the values from a real LP26. If you can't find one, let
- me know and I'll go open one of mine up.
-
- The DS250 has really wimpy parallel drivers. This causes one or more of
- the bits to be stuck high or low. I had an interesting problem where VMS
- banner pages would print "RAX/RIS" instead of "VAX/VMS". Also, testing the
- parallel ports doesn't seem to be part of DEC's repair strategy on the
- DS250 - I had to send one back 6 times in order to get one that had a work-
- ing parallel port (and that was with a real LP26).
-
- Also, stay away from V1.0 of the DS250 software (it's up to V2.0 these
- days). I had a problem at a customer site where V1.0 would print extra 0's
- occasionally. Given that the application was printing checks, the customer
- was _most_ displeased with DEC over this 8-)
