- I too was having the same problem (16 mb ram, no apps running and 12+ mb
- swap file) The solution turned out to be to get rid of the background bitmap.
- Apparently, the CSD/32-bit GRE has some trouble with remembering that it no
- longer needs memory that it has swapped out to disk when it comes to
- graphics on the desktop. I got rid of the background and have a solid color
- now and I have a manageable swapfile
