- ARG!!!
-
- I just ordered a new machine from Gateway2000, and as my luck would have
- it, the very next day I heard a horror story about installing OS/2 on a
- Gateway machine.
-
- The machine I ordered is:
- Model 4DX-33V
- 8MB RAM, 64K Cache
- Adaptec 1542A SCSI, with a 200MB HD
- ATI Ultra Pro VESA Local bus, with 1MB VRAM
-
- The person who was having the problems was running a 486DX2-66. He thought
- is was the same motherboard - I am trying to get more information from both
- him and Gateway on this. One other difference was he stated the video
- card was an ATI Ultra Plus - I ordered and ATI Ultra Pro. Apparently
- these are two different cards.
-
- Gateway stated that the machine could run OS/2, and that OS/2 2.0 drivers
- were supplied with the video card. One irritation here, Gateway will not
- let me talk to the tech support folks until I have a "customer number".
-
- Is anyone else out there running OS/2 on a machine from Gateway's current
- (apparently new) line of machines? Is it working O.K?
-
- Does anyone have the number for ATI? Maybe they will have more on the card
- situation.
-
- Thanks,
- Don
