- I have a DOS application I wish to port to OS/2. The user interface to this
- application is designed to use the so-called extended keys (between the keypad
- and main keyboard) DIFFERENTLY from those with the same names on the PC
- keypad. Under DOS, if I load ANSI.SYS with the /X option, I can use the
- appropriate ANSI commands and instruct ANSI.SYS to generate DIFFERENT ascii
- characters with the extended keys from those generated by the keypad keys
- (with NumLock off). The documentation for ANSI.SYS in an OS/2 DOS emulation
- session also talks of supporting the /X option, though very briefly.
-
- The OS/2 native ANSI command documentation makes no mention of the extended
- keys, though it does mention that with ANSI set to ON, one can redefine keys
- (it is up to the user to figure out how, however).
-
- In an OS/2 full screen or window, I am able to rebind all the regular keys
- with the same ANSI comands that work under native DOS, BUT I am NOT able to
- rebind the extended keys with the specific sequences that work under native
- DOS.
-
- It is interesting to note that the OS/2 user documention on ANSI support under
- native OS/2 is essentially non-existent. Indeed, most of the OS/2 Command
- Reference command descriptions are very brief and, in general, very poorly
- done. Although there are a lot of good things about OS/2, the OS/2 user
- documentation is NOT one of them!
-
- I checked the red books and they are no help when it comes to ANSI.
-
- Does anyone know if it is possible to redefine the extended keys under OS/2
- when ANSI is set to ON? If so, how is it done?
