All right, here's a quick question.

I'm interested in a program that can cut-and-paste images the way
word processors do that for text.  Now, Windows Paint does this very
well, but for some reason I cannot convert GIF images to BMP and maintain
the degree of image quality in the original.  I am still trying to figure
out how to save images as 8-bit (256 color) BMPs.

Now, I am trying out Paintshop Pro, and a few other programs, but none
of them seem to be able to do cut and paste within the original image.
They just cut part of an image and turn it into a whole new image, which
is useless for me (for one thing, I'm trying to repair--as much as
possible--some images that got a bit scrambled during transmission
over the net, things like Clint Eastwood with half of his face pushed
away from the other half...everything else is okay but the image is not
fully aligned...I'm also interested in making gag gifs, like Ronald
Reagan's head on Nancy's body.)

So, please, if anyone knows, can Paintshop Pro do cut-and-paste within
the original image (or it's temp file of an image) and HOW do I do that.
OR, if paintshop pro will not, does anyone know of programs that will?
VGACAD does, but it seems that it will only save in 200 x 320 formats,
so you lose a lot of detail.
