- If there are any Microsoft Windows developers which read this news
- group, I would like to make a suggestion for the next version of
- Windows...be it Win/NT, Win/32, or even Win4.0.
-
- Currently in Win3.1, you can set name, shortcut key, working directory,
- and even change the icon for each application within a group. What I
- would like to see, in an attempt to keep the path= statement under
- its 127 character limit, and in an attempt to have less than 2K set
- aside for environment variables, would be to change the working directory
- setting to a working PATH setting. Allow for more than one directory to
- be listed, with the first one on the list to be the current working
- directory. This would allow every application to have there own specific
- windows path, in addition to the dos path.
-
- I realize that if more and more developers make there software package
- more configurable via .ini settings, that this might not be all that
- important of a request. However, it sure would make it easier to have
- a custom setup which alot of us are trying to accomplish...either in
- an office environment or at a lab setting. It would also resolve quite
- a few network headaches too.
-
- Just a request from one of their customers.
