- This question pertains to the windows nt disk manager - oct 92 release.
-
- Hardware: 486/33 16meg ISA with two IDE hard disks and CHINON SCSI CD-ROM
- Disk1: 200 Mb Conner partioned as follows:
- 1 Mb - OS/2 Boot Manager
- 33Mb - DOS 5.0 (Primary) FAT DRIVE C: - ACTIVE
- 167Mb - Consensys UNIX 4.0.3
- Disk 2: 490 Mb Fujitsu partioned as follows:
- 100Mb - Windows NT (Primary) FAT DRIVE D:
- 200Mb - Extended Logical 100Mb FAT DRIVE E:
- 100Mb FAT DRIVE F:
- 190Mb - UNIX spare slice
-
- The problem is that NT diskman shows the 190Mb UNIX spare slice as
- DRIVE E: and the first extended logical 100Mb as DRIVE F:
- The second 100Mb extended logical does not have any drive letters
- assigned and I cannot access it.
-
- Using menu options I did change the drive letters to E: and F:
- for the extended logical drives and exited (SAVE is grayed out as
- soon as you change a drive letter). Diskman informed that the new
- configuration needed a reboot. However, after a reboot the drive letters
- are back as they were before the switching. I have tried this several times!
-
- So, how can I access the second extended logical partition??
-
- NOTE1: The extended logical was used by OS/2 2.0 but it was de-installed and
- the extended logicals were recreated using DOS 5.0 FDISK.
-
- NOTE2: My 3.5" floppy drive has been giving me a lot of errors with NT.
- Especially while creating the install disk, formatting floppies and also
- when I tried to save the configuration using DISKMAN's save option (and
- the drive made awful sounds - as if the head was scrubbing the floppy disk!)
