- I'm having a problem with Windows (surprise, surprise) that nobody has
- heard of or seems to know how to fix. Anybody else run into this or know
- how to fix?
- Here goes: I am running Windows under 640x480 resolution. My DOS prompt
- and several DOS-apps (Procomm, PDProlog, etc.) have thier PIFs set to init-
- ialize them with background tasking enabled. Everything is fine under the
- 640x480 resolution. However, I tried to change the resolution to 800x600.
- When I did this, any DOS-app that was enabled for background tasking upon
- startup would put garbage on the screen when it was initialized. The garbage
- looks like every other character is being printed twice, and alternate
- characters were being dropped. A standard C:> prompt comes out like CC>>.
- When I reset the screen (call bios video mode to reset to video mode3) every-
- thing is fine and works properly... until I ALT-TAB out of the application.
- When I return, sometimes the screen is okay, and sometimes its not.
- The video driver is a Trident 8900 with 1meg video ram. I DL'd Tridents
- Windows 3.1 drivers and it didn't help. I'm getting no help from technical
- support from Trident, or my PC manufacturer. Anybody else experience this
- problem? BTW, it's not just 800x600, it's 800x600 and above. Anybody know
- how to contact Microsoft? My manual doesn't say how. Thanks!
