  12. Problem: When I run Win3.1 at 800*600*16 with a Ahead VGA 512K, the following
  13. happens: if I open a DOS application in full screen mode, then upon
  14. return to a Windows app. (or desktop) the screen starts flickering
  15. like crazy (it's more like waves across the screen, really) and the
  16. only thing to do is to restart Windows. This happens both with the
  17. generic SVGA driver provided by Win3.1 and with the Ahead drivers
  18. (which are anyway quite mediocre).
  19. I add that: this doesn't happen if DOS apps. are run in a window.
  20. Also it doesn't happen if Windows is run in standard mode, even though
  21. as you know DOS apps. only run full screen there.

  23. Has anybody got an idea of what's going on here, and possibly what to
  24. do about it?

  26. Second problem (much less urgent): I notice a reduction in the screen
  27. size going from 640*480 to 800*600: about an inch on the right is cut
  28. off. (Nothing like that happens in 1024*768, but I don't use that
  29. because my card is too slow at that resolution). I know of one other
  30. person with a different card (Trident) having the same problem.
  31. Is this a normal occurrence?
