- Hello,
- I am using Windows 3.1. However, whenever I try to run a
- non-Windows application (Telemate 3.01, Procomm for Dos,
- etc.) I get an error from Windows stating that WINOLDAP.GRB
- is missing. It says to make sure the file is in the path
- defined by '286grabber=' in my system.ini file. I checked
- that line and it seems to reference a VGA driver. I am using
- a 286, if that makes any difference.
- I used disk manager to try to find this missing file. On a
- search for *.grb, only a single ms-dos file turned up. A
- friend of mine running windows on a 386 did the same search
- with the same results. His '286grabber=' line wasn't much
- different than mine either (different video drivers).
- Basically, am I hopelessly doomed to using only windows
- apps, which frankly is quite doomed? I bought this computer
- from someone who "threw windows in" because they had another
- copy with their new system. He had bought this copy, but had
- never installed it. I am trying it out to see if I want to
- bother with windows. Maybe it isn't for the 286 experience.
